Chord tremolos

Roulés are chords played in tremolos (fast alternate picking on all strings in other words).

Basic roulé

This kind of roulé is done with the standard Manouche alternate picking, with broken wrist. Alternate picking should be regular. The problem here is that the upstroke should be as fast as the downstroke: this problem appears at fast tempos. In principle, it is played in sextolets by the rhythm guitar, which brings a variation to the pompe from time to time. Like all other effects, it should be used appropriately and not excessively.

Fast roulé

This kind of roulé is done with a very fast oscillation of the wrist, almost as if the wrist was shaking. The wrist is a bit more broken than normally (almost a right angle) and a bit farther from the guitar body. This movement was difficult to learn for me, so I think it's a matter of time. It's one of those movements that cannot be done slowly because all you're trying to do is to tame the way your hand shakes. This roulé is faster than the basic roulé.

Triplet roulé

This kind of roulé is inspired from the Spanish rasgueos in flamenca guitar. On the video, it is first played slowly, then fast, to show that all strings are hit twice with a downstroke, then upwards. This movement ahs also been difficult for me to learn.
