I am sure AJL or Shopi will blow your mind, but like I said above, my friend Craig and I bought about 5~6 1950s Castelluccia over the last years, played them a lot and studied them.
And Craig came up with 2 designs matching them perfectly: fixing the flaws and improving playability of the old guitars.
They sound so good that I sold all my old Castelluccias and now play one of his.
You should contact him...
Thanks, Joli. You know, I remember reading the stuff on Djangobooks around the time of Craig's debut sale there, and have followed him ever since joining the site...his blog is a gadget on my Igoogle home page -
this is right there, duh! Sometimes it feels like you can drown in all the top-shelf makers, can't believe I hadn't had Craig more presently in mind....I think my presumption was that he, like Holo guitars, would be impossible to get ahold of, they move so quickly (and money is needed, all at once).
I'm also Favino-heavy in most of my wanderings these days....the Vieux Paris was a recent recommendation, and I have to admit, I was blown away.
At any rate, thanks again, Joli, will put this one under consideration.
