buying Cigano in Paris

Messagepar Cooperbp » 31 Mai 2012 10:45

Dear all,

i have been searching the web for days to find a Cigano GJ-10 for sale in Paris, altough i have not found one, the closest is nearly 80 kms.
I would like to ask you to tell me if there is a shop you know where there is a guitar available, i found it surprising that i could not find one, i have opportunity until next tuesday.

Thanks for your help!

Have you been in the guitar shops around Pigalle ?

it is surprising, you do not see them often in paris; when i was searching a few years ago i could only find it in the suburbs.
i just called a place called royez music, (230 Boulevard Voltaire 75011 Paris, tel 01 44 64 08 01) because i remember seeing one there. but at the moment they only have the "D bouche" GJ 15.
the sound is a lot more bassy than the gj 10 has a chunky neck and its 12 frets not 14. but its a great guitar for the price (though in the shop its a bit expensive).
you might as well buy one on the internet- in any case you will need to get it properly set up because as they are mass produced , they often need adjusting.
good luck

Thanks for your efforts!
I know the types, i have choosen the petit bouche one.
since i had someone to pick it up, i wanted to save it from the post office, but in the long run this will be the solution.
If anyone still has an ide, it would be highly appreciated. : )
Thanks,
Cooperbp

Hello
Where are you from ?

What a strange idea to buy a japanese guitar in fance
a copy of selmer originaly made in france by an italian luthier...
you've got in france the most finest luthiers and a lot of second hand guitars.
By the way you should definitely go to guitare village in the suburb of paris.

I live in Hungary, and believe it, there are very-very few guitars available here.
Well, i need a guitar for only around 500e, and as i have been searching and looking, everywhere the Cigano turned out to be the slightly better.
Guitar village has great guitars indeed, but not the one that i now need :)

Hi,
of course gypsy culture is very vivid here, unfortunately gypsy jazz not that widely, but it is growing continously, there are a bunch of great bands of pure manouche and crossover styles.
In the whole city in Budapest there are maybe 4 manouche guitars in shops (2 used) :)
I could order from Thomann, but since i have someone in Paris to pick it up and bring, i want it that way, not the post.
But i see noo actual shops of Thomann there.
